Norman Palm
Norman Palm (MySpace) is a pretty cool dude. He was sent to art school in Berlin (against his will apparently, which is really weird), decided to moved to Paris at some point, then came back to Berlin to work on an art book, take photos, sell a song to MTV ... you know, the usual trials and tribulations that any other singer/songwriter/artist/curious and creative type has to go through. Or maybe not. No, this guy Norman Palm is a little different.
He's yet to officially release the above mentioned art book, but it should hopefully be out soon. (After reading a bit about the man himself, his music, and his aspirations, I must say that I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of the tome!) Though he is slated to release a 7" single on November 9 on Ratio Records in Berlin!
The single features a cover of the Cure's "Boys Don't Cry" and Cindy Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." Bizarre combination, I know, but hey, they're the most wonderful folk/acoustic guitar covers I've heard of the tunes and apparently *someone* from the Whitest Boy Alive plays trombone on "Boys Don't Cry." Check it out below ...
