Rain Parade

An early Paisley Underground band that David Roback was in before he formed Opal and, later, Mazzy Star.

Unlike some of their peers in the scene, Rain Parade went beyond simply recycling 60s motifs, creating something more singular, inspired, something that threaded 80s college rock and alt into a tapestry of the Byrds psych and Hindustani folk and Pink Floyd kaleidoscopic expanse.



They had a smallness and a plainness to their sound, though, and this let them sit comfortably, naturally next to indie rockers of the era, too, like groups on Creation, Cherry Red.
